1.) Literacy – Reading

Today, in our online lesson, we are going to be reading a text called ‘The Tiger Hunters’ which can be downloaded below.  Before we do, there are a few unfamiliar words that you may need to look up.  Use a dictionary or google to find out the meanings.  Once we have read and discussed the text, your task will be to answer 10 questions (using a range of the VIPERS).

2a.) 5-minute Maths

Below is this week’s 5-minute maths sheet for you to use each day.  These are based on objectives that we have already covered so many of you will be able to access these without additional support.  However, for those of you who like the quick recap that we normally do at school, I have recorded some short videos to remind you how to tackle the questions for the day.  These will be posted on the blog each day.

For today’s lesson, there are two short videos for you to watch – the first which introduces decimals to 2 decimal places (tenths and hundredths) and the second which introduces thousandths.

Everyone will need to complete the Varied Fluency Sheet.

Those children who are in my greater depth group or those who would like an extra challenge, please do the Reasoning and Problem Solving activities too.

3.) Science – Living Things

Lesson 1: Why do plants have flowers?

In this lesson, we are going to learn about the different parts of a flower.  We will also learn about the stages of a life cycle of a flowering plant as well as some different methods for pollination and seed dispersal.

Please click on the link below to watch a 20 minute video which teaches you clearly about all these aspects of a flowering plant.  Your task is to complete the activity sheet which is also below.  You might want to pause the video after each section so that the information is fresh in your mind.
